Welcome to The Summer Isle!

This cabin sits on the tip of Deer Island in Echo Lake, just outside Bigfork, and the only way in is across the water. Tall pines, a rock lined shoreline, and floor-to-ceiling windows looking out to the lake and mountains all make this a one of a kind Montana summer escape. Step out onto the deck and you're perched above the water. Grab an Adirondack chair with your morning coffee, watch the boats drift by, and stay out late as the sunset lights up the mountains. Trade the road for a boat ride, and settle in to the kind of lake days you'll be talking about for years.

The cabin sleeps 6, with two bedrooms each furnished with a queen bed, plus a full bed in the loft, and a full bathroom conveniently located on the main level. The main living area is wrapped in windows, with spectacular views of Echo Lake and the Swan Mountains. Relax on the couch and look out to eagles soaring over the lake, or curl up with a book on the window nook next to the wood burning fireplace. Upstairs, the loft doubles as the entertainment room, with a futon, TV, extra seating, and its own deck overlooking the lake. Outside, the wraparound deck has plenty of spots to sit and take in the views, and a dining table seats 6 for meals in the open air. Fire up the gas grill for a Montana steak, then gather around the fire pit for s'mores under the stars.

Getting here is part of the adventure. A pontoon boat is available to carry you, your guests, and your gear from the main parking area and dock at the island. Please note that the pontoon is for transportation only and is not available for recreational use. If you'd like a boat for cruising, fishing, or tubing, you're welcome to bring your own or rent on from a local company. Launch it at the Echo Lake Fishing Access Site and tie up right at the cabin's dock. After that, the rest of your days are for swimming, paddling, and watching the sun go down over the water. This is summer the way it should be, and it only happens at The Summer Isle.

There is no road access to The Summer Isle. The only way to reach the cabin is by boat. A pontoon boat is provided for TRANSPORTATION ONLY, to carry guests, luggage, and groceries between the main parking area and dock and the island. The pontoon may NOT be used for recreation of any kind, including cruising, fishing, tubing, or sightseeing on the lake. If you'd like a boat for recreation, you're welcome to bring your own or rent one from a local company. Launch at the Echo Lake Fishing Access Site and dock at the cabin's dock, which has room for one guest boat. Please plan your trips to and from the island with this in mind.

Summer
When the snow melts, the Flathead Valley transforms into a playground of lakes, trails, and endless sunshine. Spend your days on Flathead Lake, the largest freshwater lake west of the Mississippi, where you can enjoy boating, paddleboarding, kayaking, and swimming in crystal-clear waters. Just a short drive away, Glacier National Park beckons with the legendary Going-to-the-Sun Road, Lake McDonald, and over 70 incredible day hikes. Closer to home, soak in the charm of downtown Bigfork -- a vibrant hub for local shops, art galleries, award-winning restaurants, and the iconic Bigfork Summer Playhouse. Outdoor lovers can hike the Swan River Nature Trail, explore the Jewel Basin Wilderness Area, cast a line in countless lakes and rivers, or play a round at Eagle Bend Golf Course.

Air Conditioning:
This home does not have air conditioning, which is typical for Montana mountain properties. Evenings cool down beautifully at elevation, and opening windows at night is the best way to bring that fresh mountain air in. During the day, keeping windows and curtains closed helps hold the cool air inside. Fans are available in the bedroom closets for additional comfort. For safety, please only open windows while you are present on the property.
